Gearing Up For A Fight
Posted under Parenting by adminI have really been struggling with getting my kids to understand something. It seems that they are increasingly getting more and more lackadaisical about chores and general neatness. This would be great if I had a maid hired to go behind each kid and pick up after him or her. But I don’t. I don’t even have a cleaning lady that comes a few times a month. All I have is me and them, the kids. The less they do the more I have to do and the less I get done. I hope that makes sense to someone. I figure that I should have to do dishes, laundry and basic cleaning on a daily basis. I also figure that they should do their assigned chores and picking up after themselves on a daily basis. Instead, they do their assigned chores after I get mad at them because I have reminded them a dozen times in an hour and absolutely no picking up after themselves. I spend so much time doing all of their picking up and the rest of my stuff that I really don’t have enough time to get it all done. I have taken to calling myself Cinderella. I have also been reading a lot of wrinkle cream reviews because I figure I am going to need something really good after this fight is over. And this is a fight. I am going to make each child a “To Do” list and I will also make a list of consequences if the list is not completed. I know that I do not always follow through on the consequences I randomly meter out. This will be changing. And, therein lies the fight. Wish me well!
